The Mattei air compressor range

Why a vane compressor instead of a rotary screw

A sliding vane airend runs at low rotational speed with the vanes riding on a lubricating film, so there are fewer high-speed wear points than a comparable screw compressor and no timing gears or precision rotor clearances to maintain. In practice that means quieter running, a flatter maintenance cost curve, and an airend that is designed to be rebuilt rather than replaced.
